

He was born Dec. 1, 1923 in Peoria to Warner W. and Mary (Wick) Pye, Sr. He married Virginia R. Helms June 20, 1947 in Peoria. She passed away Aug. 14, 2008 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Les and Robert Pye, three sisters: Mildred, Leona, Marie, and a daughter-In-Law, Donna Pye.
Survivors include one son, David W. Pye, three daughters: Cheri Davis of Pekin, Sandra (Donald) Smith of Hanover Park, Lori Benfield of Glasford, a special nephew, Richard (Judy) Wyss of Glasford, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Warner was a WWII Army Veteran, he entered the service Feb. 10, 1943 and was shipped overseas June 3, 1943. He joined the Infantry Medical Detachment on July 3, 1943 serving in the Sicilian Campaign, into Italy, landing at Anzio Beach. They continued on to Rome and Naples for training for the landing in Southern France, and on through France to Germany and Austria. While in the military he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Medical Badge, and Distinguished Badge with Oak Leaf Cluster. Following his time with the Military, Warner worked as a Superintendent with Becker Bros. Construction until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 183.
Funeral services will be Thursday Sep. 11, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Memorials may be made to the Timber-Hollis Fire Department.
