William “Bill” Dwight Whitehurst, Jr., 71, of Glasford, passed away on Tuesday, November 02, 2021. Bill was born on September 24, 1950 in Peoria to the late William Dwight Whitehurst, Sr. and Cherie Frank Whitehurst. He began working in the family business of home building when he was 16, and worked for P&W Builders for 55 years. From homes to shelves, playhouses, and derby cars- if you could build it with wood, he could do it.
His ventures outside of home building included owning and operating two bars- Butcher Block and Losers. Both businesses are now closed, perhaps because bottom lines weren’t always as important as taking care of friends. In more recent years he enjoyed yardwork and traveling to Laughlin with Rose, family and friends.
He was known for his hard work ethic, know-how, sense of humor, and stubbornness. Bill was always quick to make a friend and give you the shirt off his back. He loved his family, friends, and dogs- especially his Ruby Rose.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rose Whitehurst, whom he married on May 26, 2018; son, William (Yvette) Whitehurst, III; daughter, April (Ron “Billy”) Stockman; stepdaughter, Heather (Chris) Marsh; stepson, Corey (Wanda) Birmingham; 4 grandsons; brother, Bob (Cheryl) Whitehurst; brother-in-law, Dave Brooks; sister-in-law, Sheri Whitehurst; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Ann Brooks; and brother, Thomas Allen Whitehurst.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 06, 2021 from 1-3PM at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Funeral services will be held on the following day at 10AM at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow.
