Betty Ann Bowman, 79, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on September 22, 2015 at Blue Ridge Nursing Home. She was born May 23, 1936 in Abington, Virginia to John Marshall Thomas and Mary Louise Thomas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John M. Nichols, and sister, June Thomas.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Kathy Tolliver, Margie Price-Savedge, and son, James “Ed” Nichols, sisters, Karen Orr, Bonnie Sue Bowman, brothers, John Thomas, Jr., Sherman Thomas, James Thomas, Lewis Thomas, and Tony Thomas, grandchildren, Johnny Cobbler, David Cobbler, Susan Horsley, and Travis Price, great-grandchildren, Mitch Cobbler, Sydney Cobbler, Kaitlyn Cobbler, Nick Horsley, Shaye Cobbler, and Payton Horsley.
The family will receive friends Thursday, September 24, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home-Bassett Chapel, and at other times at the home of her son and his wife, Ed and Donna Nichols, 5433 Airport Rd., Bassett, VA. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 25 at 2:00 P.M. at Collins Funeral Home-Bassett Chapel with Pastors James Thomas and Kenneth Horsley officiating. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
