Charlie Richel Ramsey

Charlie R. Ramsey, 88, of 3439 Reed Creek Drive in Bassett, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. He was born in Henry County, November 2, 1923 to James H. and Mary Davis Ramsey, He served in the Army during WW II and retired from DuPont after 28 years of service. He was a member of Oak Level Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant daughters and six brothers, James, Sterling, Glen, Harold, Pete and Lewis Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Seay Ramsey of the residence; one daughter, Janice Ramsey of Martinsville; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Danny and Becky Ramsey of Bassett, Tony and Faye Ramsey of Henry; three sisters, Josephine Horsley of Bassett, Mary Davis of Collinsville and Ethel Hodges of Martinsville; four grandchildren, Brad and Chris Ramsey, Drew Ramsey and Laura Richards, Jeremy and Shannon Ramsey, Leslie R. and Andrew Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Brady Ramsey.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 19, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Dr. Joey McNeill officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Henry Memorial Park with military honors by the Martinsville Henry County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett and other times at the residence.
