Claude Cecil Austin Jr.

He was the son of the late Claude Cecil Austin, Sr. and Grace Belton Austin.

Mr. Austin was a United States Army Veteran, a Member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 58 years where he served in the Music Ministry for many years. He was a member of The Young at Heart group that sung at various nursing homes in the area. He was employed with Fieldcrest Mills for 48 years and Henry County Public Schools as a school bus driver for 44 years driving bus #76 for the majority of that time.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a son James “Randy” Austin.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Parks Austin of the residence, daughters: Susan Austin Gordon (Les)of Fieldale and Joyce Austin Parker (Joe) of Ridgeway , Son: Joseph Kevin Austin (Tiffani) of Penhook, sister: Betty Austin Martin of Bassett, brother: James “Jim” Austin (Eunice) of Ridgeway, grandchildren: Amanda Estep (Davin), Ashley Parker (Andy), Matthew Gordon, Lauren Wright and Lukas Parker, great-grandchildren: Lexice, Isabelle, Brielle and Milly.

The family will receive friends at Collins Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6 – 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. David Towler at 11:00am Friday November 18 at Tabernacle Baptist Church with interment to follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
