

Born in Henry County March 1, 1920, he was a son of the late Charles Pilson and Louise Thomas Pilson. Also preceding him in death was a son, Curtis Pilson Jr., a daughter, Jacqueline Pilson Gravely, sisters, Thelma P. Barbour, Eva P. Price, Elizabeth P. Seay, Margaret Pilson, brothers, Lennis Pilson Sr., Conrad Pilson, Gordon Pilson, Alfred Pilson, George W. Pilson, and Wallace Pilson.
Curtis served in the U. S. Army during World War II, was a member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Bassett, and retired from Bassett Furniture Company after 24 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Johnson Pilson, daughters, Corilla P. Collins of Virginia Beach, Drucilla P. Penn of Martinsville, Kathy G. Spencer (Ray) of Collinsville, Sandra G. Wimbush of Ridgeway, Robin P. Brown (Michael) of Martinsville, a son, Dennis E. Gears (Lisa) of Martinsville, 17 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, December 14, 2014, at Rock Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Carlton L. Redd officiating. Interment will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 prior to the service.
