Frances "Fran" Zue Byrd Amos

Frances (Fran) Zue Byrd Amos, 82, of Collinsville, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Golden Years on Starling Avenue, Martinsville where she had been residing the last few months of her life. Fran was born on October 9, 1932, in Rocky Mount, Virginia to the late Reginald D. Byrd and Gladys B. Byrd. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Franklin (Frank) D. Amos. Also preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Tuck and Joyce Hodge and brother Jack Byrd.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Amos and wife Andrea of Bassett; Timothy Amos and wife Autumn of Ft. Worth, Texas and daughter Jennifer Williams of Collinsville; granddaughter Amanda Higgins and husband Rob of Chesapeake, Virginia and grandson Brandon Amos of Bassett; great-grandchildren Riley Higgins, Lillian Higgins and Mason Duncan. Also two sisters, Betty Streapy and husband Ed and Jean Byrd, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Amos was a member of Fairway Baptist Church. She was employed by DuPont for several years. She also took care of her grandchildren. She was strong in her faith, attending church when able, a loving and caring person, loved to work with her flowers. Also loved to travel with her husband, with her favorite destinations being Niagara Falls and Smokey Mountains.

Special Thanks to Rosa Miles and Dr. Maureen Aaron, the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and also to Sarah Holcomb-Campbell and family and the staff of Fork Mountain Rest Home. Thank you for the care, love, and attention shown to Mom. We are grateful beyond words.

Funeral service will be held at Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Collins Funeral Home Bassett Chapel with nephew and Pastor Ricky Bates officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Michael and Andrea Amos.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 18981 Jeb Stuart Highway, Stuart Virginia 24171.
