
Born in Hansford, WV, January 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Maxine Toney Surbaugh and Frederick Hill Surbaugh Sr.
He was a graduate of East Bank High School in WV, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with the Seabees during the Viet Nam War. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and the West Virginia Mountaineers. He loved working with and coaching kids and was well known for coaching both soccer and softball for many years in Point Pleasant, WV, where he lived.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Jacqueline Stone Surbaugh, his son, Rick Surbaugh of the home, daughters, Tara Surbaugh of the home, and Eden Surbaugh Hale of Martinsville, and three grandsons, Gavin, Paxton and Barrick.
A memorial service will be held at 7 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2011, at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with Pastor Terry Covey officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Martinsville DuPont Credit Union for the benefit of his grandsons, Gavin, Paxton, and Barrick.
