George A. Mitchell

George was born on June 26, 1927 in Stokes County, N.C. to George Dillard Mitchell and Mary Stevens Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ola Mae Fulp Mitchell, two sons; Johnny Steve Mitchell, Ronnie Mitchell, three sisters; Rachael Ward, Ruth Martin, Nanny Lou Anderson, four brothers; Hughes, Ray, Clarence and Curtis Mitchell.

George was a member of Blackberry Baptist Church where he had served as Head Usher and on the Baptizing Committee. He was a member of the Martinsville and Henry County Senior Citizens.

Mr. Mitchell is survived by four grandchildren; Laurie Kitchen, Johnny Mitchell, Melody Hyde, Jodie Galimore, four sisters; Shirley Walker, Betty Overby, Bobby Mabe, Patty Taylor, numerous great grandchildren ,nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA . A Graveside Service will follow in The State Line Baptist Church Cemetery, State Road #103 Dry Pond, VA. at 2:00 pm with Pastor Chad Janey officiating.
