Ida Gladys Martin

The daughter of the late Abner Dallas and Martha Lou Stone Martin, she was born on November 18, 1918, in the Fairy Dale Community of Patrick County, Virginia. Brothers Posey L, J Harry, A Curtis and Hewlus A Martin preceded her in death.

She was survived by sisters-in-law Ruth D Martin, Waynesboro, Virginia, and Verona T Martin, Collinsville, Virginia; three nephews and six nieces.

A graduate of Blue Ridge Mission School, she retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 42 years of service. Ida was a member of Blackberry Baptist Church.

After retirement, Ida enjoyed gardening and quilting. She was known for her beautiful flower gardens and took much pride in growing hybrid tea roses.

Ida will be remembered as a devoted daughter, sister and aunt.

The family wishes to thank Jean Fretwell for the loving care provided to Ida during her final years.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Friday, February 20, 2015, at Collins Funeral Home with Reverend Eric Kieselbach officiating.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old Center Primitive Baptist Church, Sanville, Virginia.
