John William Beck

Mr. John William Beck, 84 of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Sovah Health after a decline in health. Mr. Beck was born on February 26, 1933 in Henry County, a son of the late Bob E. Beck and the late Bessie Stanley Beck. He was a truck driver for many years for Roy Stone Trucking and Ridgeway Clocks. He attended Clearview Baptist Church. He honorably served in the United States Army. Mr. Beck is survived by his wife, Ruth Frances Bryant Beck of the residence; one daughter, Frances Ann Goad and husband, Randy of Collinsville; one son, John Wayne Beck and wife, Kelly of Rocky Mount; two sisters, Virginia Oliver, Annie Mae Haymore both of Martinsville; one brother, Bobby Beck of Martinsville; three grandchildren, John C. Beck, Hannah N. Goad and Amanda G. Goad. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Julia Moose; and three brothers, Billy Beck, Thomas Beck and Robert Beck. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel in Bassett. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. Arrangements under the direction of Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Services, Bassett, VA.
