Katie Delight Holt

Katie Delight Shelton was born January 30, 1932 in Henry County Virginia to Thomas Shelton and Kate Wade Shelton. Katie completed her education at Maryland Eastern Shore for two years. Katie met the love of her life Herman in 1954 and later married in April and was happily married for 66 years. The daughters are Angela, Kay, Teresa, Lisa and Peggy. Her passion was caring for her flowers and feeding the birds, puzzles and reading the bible. She enjoyed preparing meals with her love Herman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and once a year going to North Carolina to prepare Thanksgiving meals with the family. She worked at Bassett Chair until she retired. Katie was a long-time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In the past she was a Sunday School teacher, treasurer of the Ladies of Auxiliary, member of Senior Choir, chorus and a faithful member. Katie was also known for ringing the bell every Sunday before church. Katie was preceded in death by her parents – Thomas and Kate and her husband Herman along with her siblings Carrie, Beryl, Peggy, Mary Onie, Charlotte, Deehart, Thomas (Buttercup). She is survived by Peggy Wimberly, Angie (Ervin) Carter, Kay Pilson, Teresa (Mike) Gray, Lisa (Carlton) Riley. She had 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. Mom was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a loving Mother-In-Law. Katie the queen will be truly missed by her family. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91. Special recognition to Commonwealth Hospice, Dr. James Isernia, Pastor Carelock and the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family. A special thank you to her niece and nephew – Wayne and Casenio. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 338 John Baker Road, Fieldale, Virginia. The family will have a floating visitation due to Covid-19 at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, Virginia on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
