Nell Y Bryant

Nellie “Nell” Y. Bryant, 87 of Bassett, died Sunday July 7, 2013, at Stanleytown Health Care. She was born on April 30, 1926 in Henry County, to the late Louis and Clyde Hutchinson Young. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Lynn Bryant, her husband, Randolph Bryant, and her sister, Tyndal Cotton.

She was a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital for 13 years and was the owner and operator, with her husband Randolph, of the Zip In in Fieldale for many years. She was a very active member of Fieldale Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, Joyful Singers and Chancel Choir.

Surviving are two sons, Rodney L. Bryant of Gretna and Gregory L. Bryant of Fieldale, and five grandchildren, Stephanie Young, Rhiannon Bryant, Timothy Bryant, Rachel Bryant and Rebecca Bryant.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 12, 2013, at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett with the Rev. Joe Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 11, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Collins Funeral Home.
