 Obituario de Raymond Linwood Helton
Raymond Linwood Helton, age 77, of Bassett, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Raymond was born May 14, 1944. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.collinsmckeestonebassett.com, Raymond (Papa) Helton On July 31, 2021 the sun set for an amazing soul, Raymond Helton or more known as Papa. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Papa was born on May 14, 1944 in Pittsylvania, County to Ernest Helton and Corine Bridgeman Helton. He is also proceeded in death by his late wife Elizabeth Helton (Nanny); brothers, Jack Helton, Bobby Helton, and Grandson Eric Helton. Papa is survived by his beloved daughter, Sharon Mullins; son, David Helton; and brother, Sam Helton. He had a special Granddaughter that thought of him not only as her papa, but the father she never had, Kristy Whittaker. He had five wonderful loving grandchildren, Kristy Whittaker, Angela Norman (husband Jonathon), Derek Helton, Eric Helton and Adam Helton. His great grandchildren were very special to his heart, Caitlyn Barnes, Jon Jon Norman, Hayden Norman, Hailey Whittaker, Sierra Helton, Kaylee Helton and Zayden Helton. He also had many close friends and great nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered by his story telling. He never forgot a story and always made sure to tell it more than once and the laughter after the story ended was like hearing it for the first time. He loved cooking breakfast and listening to B99.9 Country Radio Station while cleaning. He was a wonderful fisherman and loved the water. He was a giving, loving father, brother, and papa. He always made sure everyone else’s worries and concerns out weighed his and were taken care of before his own. He worked at Stanley Furniture for many years until his health began to decline and had to retire. He was always in good spirits and even when life was coming to an end for him, he never forgot to say his famous words when hanging up the phone “You Be Good”. His sunset didn’t just set, but has made so many lives honor and appreciate him for all his wisdom, courage, lessons and strength for a lifetime. We little knew that day that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You’ll always be close to our side and we’ll cherish all our beautiful memories (and stories) forever. We love you Daddy. Papatt.com for the Helton family.
