Robert Philip Dalton, Sr., 75, of Bassett, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Richmond. Born October 2, 1942, in Bluefield, WVA, he was a son of the late Robert Banner Dalton and Nettie Phillips Dalton. He grew up in Radford, VA, and attended VA Tech. He retired as VP of Purchasing from Bassett Furniture Industries after 43 years of service. Phil was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church for over 50 years where he served as former chairman of the Board of Deacons, was former President of the Bassett Kiwanis Club, former President of Bassett Country Club, and chair of Bassett Public Library Association/Bassett Historical Center. He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Nettles Dalton of the home, son, Robert Dalton Jr. of Richmond, daughters, Susan Humphrey (John) of San Jose, CA, and Mary Coblin (Michael) of Rancho Viejo, TX, grandchildren, Banner Dalton, Eva Dalton, and Cole Coblin, and his sister, Margaret Ann Morris of Radford. A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, May 20, 2018, at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church with Rev. Susan Spangenburg officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Saturday, at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bassett Historical Center, 3964 Fairystone Park Highway, Bassett, VA 24055 or to Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church, 120 Bassett Heights, Bassett, VA 24055. Arrangements are by Collins Funeral Home, Bassett.
