Roy Eugene (Poochie) Moore, age 83 0f the Pleasant Grove Community, Martinsville, Virginia. Passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was the only child of Sam and Evelyn Moore, who proceed him in death.
Mr. Moore retired as Plant Manager at Blue Ridge Talc in Henry, Virginia after 27 years of service. He grew up and was active in the Mount Bethel United Methodist Church for many years. He served in many positions including heading up the Apple Butter and Brunswick Stew makings. He was presently a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Collinsville.
He was an avid golfer and played many courses including traveling to Scotland where the game of golf began. He also traveled far and near with his antique apple peelers helping civic organizations and churches peel apples for their apple butter. He loved working in his garden and sharing the fruits of his labors, such as green beans and tomatoes with his family and friends.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Patterson Moore of the home, one son, Rodney A. Moore of Martinsville, and one daughter, Susan M. Harmon (J.D.) of Martinsville, and one special grandson, Scott M. Harmon.
The family receive friends, Sunday, October 17, 2021, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home at Bassett, Virginia.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 18, 2021 at the Landmark Baptist Church in Collinsville. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
