Ruby Spencer Ramsey

Ruby Spencer Ramsey of Martinsville, VA and formally a long-time resident of Oak Level Road, VA passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning February 5, 2019. She was born in Franklin County March 9, 1922, to Jerry Walker Spencer and Lula Spencer Barnes. She was an active member of Fort Trial Baptist Church for many years. She served as WMU President, Sunday School Teacher, and was a member of the Senior Adults. She was a Red Cross Volunteer for 30 years at Sovah Hospital and a member of the Oak Level Ladies Ruritian Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Ramsey, Sr. and her two sons, Edward Davis Ramsey, Jr. and Lynwood Carroll Ramsey; one sister, Velma Prillaman, and one brother, Jerry Walker Spencer. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ramsey Hagans (Sidney) of Hickory, NC; three grandchildren, Melissa Ramsey Breaux (Todd) of Danville, VA, Spencer Davis Ramsey (Jane) of Charlotte, NC, and Thomas Jarrett Carter of Hickory, NC; Two great grandchildren, Mason Davis Ramsey and Jaden Thomas Carter, one sister, Mabel Spencer Atkins; special daughter, Sandra Ramsey Stegall and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at Fort Trial Baptist Church at 1:30pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12pm until 1:15pm. The family will also receive friends at the home of Jerry Atkins, 454 Old Stage Road, Bassett, VA. The family would like to thank the staff at Blue Ridge Manor and Mountain View Hospice who expressed much love with excellent care for our Mother.
