Sadie Hurst Brooks

Sadie attended First Baptist Church of Bassett and was formerly a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church in Gastonia. She worked many years in a cafeteria for Gaston County Public Schools.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Albert Lee Brooks “Pete”; three sisters, Lillie H. Long, Madge H. Morris, and Alice H. Oakley and two brothers, Robert and Marvin Hurst, precede her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Morgan (Lewis) of Fieldale, VA; three grandchildren, John “Brooks” Morgan (Lisa) of Fieldale, VA, Christy Fisher (Joe) of Stanton, VA, and Robert William Morgan (Whitney) of Hertford, N.C.; and 10 great grandchildren, Cameron and Amber Morgan, Noah, Carter, Oakley, Jackson, and Janie Fisher, Lindsey Ferguson, Kennedy Snyder, and Fisher Morgan.

A Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 15th at Collins Funeral home in Bassett, VA at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Lew Bennett and Monroe Light officiating with visitation held an hour prior to the service. A Graveside service will be conducted Monday October 16th at Gaston Memorial Park in Gaston, N.C. at 1:00 p.m..
