

Susie Ann Amburn Scott, 71, of 300 Roundhill Road, Martinsville, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Henry County on May 29, 1940 to the late Earnest Amburn and Pearl Marion Amburn. She was an agent for Combined Insurance for most of her life. Susie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Heights Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC where she enjoyed serving as a Sunday School Teacher, sung in the church choir and was a self taught pianist and organist.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Amanda Turner and three brothers, Bill, Russell and Manford Amburn.
Surviving are her husband, James Scott of the home, four daughters and sons-in-law; Glenda and William Meade of Collinsville, Tammie and Steve Soots of Martinsville, Regina and Merrill Bigelow of York, Pennsylvania and Kathy Hale of Bassett, one son and daughter-in-law; Doug and Jennifer Turner of Mooresville, NC, twelve grandchildren; Chris Kirk, Elizabeth Garret, Andrew Hale, Brandi Pierce, Elisha Turner, Holly Turner, Drake Turner, Thomas Myers, Megan Bigelow, James Soots, Jesse Soots and Jacob Soots, two great grandchildren, Haylee Kirk and Carson Hale, three sisters, Georgia Earles of Martinsville, Lucille Weaver of Martinsville, Dorothy Lawson of Hampton, two brothers, Jim Amburn of Charlotte and Earnest Amburn of Collinsville, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at New Heights Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC with Rev. Harold Venable and Rev. Andrew Hale officiating, interment will follow in Henry Memorial Park in Bassett. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home of Bassett and again one hour prior to services at the Church.
