Vandora Rider Raines

Vandora was of the Baptist faith. She worked at various furniture plants in Bassett for twenty one years. While living in Wytheville, Va., she was the editor and writer of the Hedgefield Retirement Community Newsletter.

She loved music, dancing, writing poetry and songs, hunting for fossils, as well as hunting and fishing. Most all, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved people and was full of life.

Vandora is preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Raines Jr., a daughter, Donna Gail Meade and grandson Marty Killen.

Survivors include one son, Jerry Raines, Bassett, Va.; daughters, Patricia Mullins, Bassett, Va., Jennifer Killen, Bassett, Va., Susan Bridges, Meadows of Dan, Va., and Marsha Turpin, Wytheville, Va.; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Wood officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
