Mrs. Chaney lived most of her life in Henry, Virginia. She worked over 22 years at Bassett Table Company in Bassett. Taking many young people under her wing, always helping anyone and everyone. Her kindness was unbelievable. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
She was a member of Prillaman Baptist Church in Ferrum where she met her dear friend, Essie Goad many years ago. They shared a special bond and talked almost daily.
Mrs. Chaney was a patient of Dr. Melvin George, who she always called “The Boss”, never letting him walk away without saying “I love you!”. She was on dialysis at Davita of Martinsville for 2 ½ years where everyone became her second family. She loved every staff member and every patient. The family will be forever grateful for all of the love compassion shown to her while she was there. The family would also love to thank Carilion Hospice of Rocky Mount, Virginia. These people are angels. They were with the family only four days, but Jason, Sherri, Dina, and Martha were amazing and helped us through and care for our mother with love and compassion.
Our mother was one of a kind. The mama anyone could have ever dreamed for. We are truly blessed that God chose her for our family.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Collins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary Shupe officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home.
