

Willie Simon Horsley, 86, of Fieldale, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Salem VA Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Petersburg, VA, on January 1, 1926 to the late Claude Swanson Horsley, Sr., and Roberta Oaks Horsley. He served during WWII in the Navy as a Seaman First Class. He retired after ten years working with Tom’s Vending Co as delivery and sales associate and was a member of the Rangley Ruritan and County Line Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Horsley and Claude Swanson “Junior” Horsley, Jr.
Surviving are his wife of fifty three years, Virginia Wilkinson Horsley of the home, one step-daughter, Claudia English of Riverview, Michigan, one son, John David Horsley of Olney, Maryland, one sister, Ruth David of Penhook, five brothers, Roy Horsley of Pilot Mt, North Carolina, J. C. Horsley of Collinsville, Jack Horsley of Martinsville, Kenneth Horsley of Ridgeway and Larry Horsley of Martinsville, three grandchildren, Jason Allan Horsley, Andrew Thomas Horsley, Katelyn Marie Horsley, one step-grandchild, Monica Albright and one great grandchild Benjamin Albright.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 at Fieldale Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Gribble and Rev. Richard Harrison officiating, interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service beginning at 12 noon at Fieldale Baptist Church.
