

Willie Tatum Martin, 88, of Bassett, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville. She was born in Stella on June 9, 1923 to the late James H. Tatum, Sr., and Florence Brown Tatum. She was retired after more than forty-five years with Bassett Furniture Co., where she worked in the office and she was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Webster Shelton Martin, three sisters, Florence Moore, Lois Tatum and Susan Turne,r and one brother, James H. Tatum, Jr.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law; James W. “Jimmy” Martin and his partner, Mike, of Penhook, Joseph E “Joey” Martin and wife, Anita, of Bassett and two grandchildren, Whitney E. Martin and Taylor R. Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hewitt, Rev. John Fulcher and Rev. Joe Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Critz Baptist Church Cemetery in Critz. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home in Bassett and other times at the home of a son, Joey Martin, at 3499 Reed Creek Drive, Bassett.
