Darius Neiki Cathey

Darius Cathey was born on January 10th, 1976 to Darcus Ann Cathey Brooks and Donald W. McGee in Houston, Texas. Darius was born and raised in Houston, Texas and later moved to Bastrop, Texas. He lived in the house built by his great-grandparents until his passing. He attended Bastrop High School where he was a member of school choir, key club, and the Future Homemakers of America. Darius received three awards for outstanding FHA member and one award for outstanding vocational student. He graduated from Bastrop High School in June 1994.

Darius graduated from Le Chef College of Hospitality in Austin, Tx with a Degree in A.A. Culinary Arts, Food, and Beverage Management. Darius held positions such as a Correctional Officer, Truck Driver, and Security Officer between 1998 and 2004. He received employment at R & L Foods as an Assistant Manager, and drove Shuttle Bus for Star Shuttle until his passing.

Darius was a beautiful soul that loved Whitney Houston, dancing, and cooking. He was always there for his loved ones and brought life and light wherever he went. Darius had a huge heart and his laughter could fill up a room. He was smart, lively, and most importantly loved.

On August 3, 2016, Darius Cathey transitioned from his earthly home to glory. We would love to hold one more conservation, hear one more laugh, or have one more visit but his soul is at peace now.

Preceded in the gates of Heaven by his mother Darcus Ann Cathey-Brooks, Grandparents Esther Cathey and L. C. Cathey, and Aunt Janice Gills.

and a host of cousins who shared a larger part of his early life.
