Dorothy N. Pierce

Dorothy Nell Pierce passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in Bastrop, Texas. Dorothy was born in San Saba, Texas as Dorothy Twomey to Bonnie and Alberta Twomey on January 13, 1934. She lived in Texas most of her life.

Dorothy enjoyed fishing on the river, spending time outdoors, playing 42 in dominos, and loved to travel. She worked at various jobs throughout her life. She worked for The University of Texas for 16 years, owned a bar at one time, and even worked at a nursing home.

Dorothy was a loving and giving soul. She opened her home to many family members who lived with her throughout her life. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

She married David Pierce, whom she had known as a child, and they had three boys, Lawrence, Austin and Ben.

She is survived by her 3 sons; 2 sisters, Frances Stewart and Sarah Edwards; 8 grandchildren, Patrick, Angie, Krissy, Brady, David, Chad, Zachary and Kaydee; 1 great-grandson; and nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Evan Lee and Bill; and a sister, Gladys.

Services will be held 2:00pm Monday, January 25, 2016 at the graveside in Terry Cemetery near San Saba, Texas.
