

Nathan worked as an automobile mechanic and carpenter for many years. Despite his handicap he enjoyed a hobby of woodworking. His favorite project was collecting and constructing old model cars. Nathan had a strong relationship with the Lord. In his leisure time, Nathan would actively read and study the Bible. He served as a deacon for the Burnet Bible Church. He later became a member of the First Baptist Church of Bastrop.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Marie (Higginbothem) who passed in 1966, his wife Lucy Nora (Carpenter) who passed in 2003 and his sister, Mildred Rich Husselman.
Nathan is survived by daughters, Ruth Ann Rich of Austin, Eula Elaine Murphy of Bastrop, grandchildren, John Murphy and his wife Sharon of Cedar Creek, Gayla Murphy Hoffman and her husband Charlie of Cedar Creek, Wayne Murphy and his wife Debbie of Smithville, a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Billy Mack Rich of Carlsbad, NM.
Visitation will be Tuesday June 5, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.
The Funeral Service will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home with Burial following at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.
