Nell Adell Evans Simpson

Nell was born in 1918 in Weldon, Texas to Dee Evans and Jewel Middleton Evans. She attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, earning a Masters degree in Business Administration. She taught business courses at Dickinson High School until her retirement.

Nell was happily married to Robert Dean McAdams, another educator, until his death in 1967. Together they raised their daughter Robin Dee McAdams. She later married Murl Simpson who she enjoyed traveling with during their retirement years. They had relocated to Bastrop together, where Nell enjoyed the nature around her, especially the birds, squirrels, and most especially her feline companions.

Nell was a longtime member of the Baptist community, both in Dickinson and in Bastrop. She enjoyed continually learning more about her faith, including reading the Bible and studying with the fellow members of her Sunday school class.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Dee and Jewel Evans, her two husbands, Robert and Murl, her daughter Robin, and her brother Buddy Evans.

She is survived by her two granddaughters, Kim Rainosek of Elgin, Jennifer Reeves and her husband Chris of Temple, three great grandchildren, Kristin, Matthew, and Amanda, and two great-great grandsons, Jonathan and Carson, as well as many students whose lives she touched.

Visitation is Monday, January 2, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, Texas.

Funeral Service is Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at McAdams Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
