Butch was born on August 22, 1953, in Baton Rouge to Adrian Latham Brunson Jr. and Kathleen Smith. He graduated from Broadmoor High School and spent over 30 years working as an insulator foreman at Rubicon and through Local 53. He was a hard worker, a great storyteller, and someone who always made time for the people and things he loved. If you knew Butch, you knew he loved fishing—especially down in Grand Isle—and never missed a chance to tell a good fish tale. He found joy in simple pleasures: caring for his Yorkies, sitting on the front porch watching hummingbirds, cooking up something tasty, watching LSU games, or spending time at the camp. He also enjoyed shooting his guns and, more than anything, being with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Smith; his partner of over 20 years, Suzy Watts; his children, Sandy Holden (Micah) and Adrian “Latham” Brunson IV (Audrey); and his five grandchildren: Isabella, Landry, and Bryce Holden, and Charlotte and Lucy Brunson. He also leaves behind his brothers, Bill (Cathy), Drew (Barbara), and Gordon Dean (Judy); nieces, Jessica Trosclair (Burke), Jennifer Marion (Tommy), and Shannon Moak (Spencer); nephews, Reed and Daniel Brunson; and special friends Bree Lavigne, Lukas, Finn, Ellory and Caleb.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Latham Brunson Jr.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. with a memorial service at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to C.A.S.T. for Kids, an organization that brings the joy of fishing to children with special needs.
