
Dr. Alan Dale Sandifer, a native of Arkansas, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after an accident. He was 53 and a resident of Baton Rouge. He graduated from Arkadelphia High School, Ouachita Baptist University and LSU School of Dentistry and completed a 2-year endodontic residency. He was veteran of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of major in the Dental Corps, and practiced endodontics in Baton Rouge with Chisolm, Harrison and Sandifer since 1994. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Visitation at St. Jude Catholic Church on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Trey Nelson, celebrant. Services under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Survivors include his beloved wife, Mary Spansel Sandifer; daughter, Amanda Marie Sandifer; son, Ryan Charles Sandifer; parents, C.K. and Lucille Sandifer; sister, Leanne Strickland and husband Russell; brother, Randy Sandifer and wife Sue; two sisters-in-law, Pat St. Pierre and husband Denis, and Cathy Spansel; brother-in-law, Henry Spansel and wife Judee; mother-in-law, Rose Bacino Spansel; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Arthritis Foundation.
