Alexander James Venable was born January 2nd, 1995, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Dwayne Venable and Amy Carruth Venable. It is with profound sadness that we announce his passing, as he left this world unexpectedly on August 8, 2024, at the age of 29.
Affectionately known as “Venny”, he was a proud graduate of St. Michael the Archangel High School, where he excelled at playing baseball. Following high school, Alex continued his education at Southeastern Louisiana University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering before returning to Baton Rouge to work alongside his parents and brother in the family business.
Alex is survived by his loving parents, Dwayne and Amy Venable; his brother, Zachary Venable; and his maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Winnie Costello and Jim and Helen Carruth, and paternal grandmother Geraldine Venable, wife of his late grandfather, Joe Venable. He is also survived by his uncles Troy Carruth, Tyler Carruth and his wife Mary Elizabeth, Ronnie Castello and his wife Connie, Randy Castello and his wife Cheryl, Timmy Venable, and his aunt Tina Venable. He will also be remembered by his cousins Kelsi Frey, Liam Carruth, Adam Carruth, Rylan Carruth, Logan Venable, Lexus Venable, Graeson Henagan, Ashley Carpenter, JC Rizzutto, Christin McLean, Brandy Milton, and Mason Castello.
More than anything, Alex found joy in spending time with his family. He had a love for golfing with his brother and closest friends, spending many joyful hours together on the links. He also had a deep passion for music and a true gift for playing the guitar. Alex had a captivating personality, always smiling and making others laugh. Being a loyal son, brother, and friend provided him with a deep sense of purpose.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Alex's life held on August 14th at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 2:00pm, with services to follow at 2:00pm. A reception will be held at Greenoaks Reception Center following the conclusion of services. Serving as pallbearers are Zachary Venable, Jordan Burkett, Ryan Bruno, Alec Shortess, Logan Venable, Troy Carruth, Tyler Carruth, and James Snelson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to the Rain Will Bring Flowers Foundation to support the prevention of student athlete suicide, in memory of Alex.
May Alex’s spirit continue to live on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him and his joyous spirit. He will always be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the love he gave so freely.
