Zeph. 3:17Alexander "Alex" Joseph Spano was born on December 29, 1991 to Mark Alan Spano and Claire Schmidt Spano. He passed away suddenly on January 17, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, following a traffic accident. Alex is survived by his parents, Mark and Claire; sisters, Lydia and Sophia; paternal grandmother, Bobbie Scroggs Spano; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his dog, Bella. In heaven, he will join his maternal grandparents, Charles E. and Marie Bergeron Schmidt; and paternal grandfather, Winfred J. Spano. A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, he attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School and Catholic High School. Alex lit up any room he entered with his dimples, smirkish grin and witty comments. He enjoyed spending time with friends, family and on the water fishing. A life that ended too soon, but a life well lived; he will forever be loved and missed by all that knew him. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street on Friday, January 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation continues at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue on Saturday, January 21, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at noon. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Boulevard. Pallbearers will be Austin Dick, Jim Moran, Alex Rodney, Wade Samaha, Lawton Warner and Robby Whitrock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alex's memory to "Traditions for Tomorrow" at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.
