

Kopsa, Alice Lee AtkinsOctober 4th, 1947 "“ October 27th, 2015Alice Lee Atkins was born to parents Gulley Clayton Atkins and Elise Bowman Atkins in Baton Rouge. She was the youngest of three daughters. Her sisters are Sidney Ann Atkins (deceased) and Bonnie Elise Atkins Prohl. Alice graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1965. She received her bachelor's degree in English from LSU in 1969, where she was a sister in the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Alice was an English teacher for EBR Parish. She taught at Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Tara High School, and Woodlawn High School for a combined 30 years. Alice was a devoted and loving mother to her sons, Alexandre Jean and Jeremy Clay French. She is survived by them along with her precious granddaughters, Lauren Renee and Hannah Marie French. Alice is also survived by a loving sister, Bonnie Prohl and her children, Robert Prohl and Elisha Prohl Wykoff. Alice enjoyed the last fifteen years of her life with dear friend and companion, Joe Skay. They loved to take cruises and enjoyed life together. Alice Kopsa dedicated her life to selflessly building others. She taught fearlessly and loved unconditionally. She was a beautiful, strong, and intelligent woman who lived her life fully. Her spirit will live on eternally. Alice's family is hosting a reception on Sunday, November 1st, from 2pm-5pm to honor Alice's life. The reception will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, La. 70815. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in Alice's memory, to the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation - Palliative Care.
