

Amelia Griffin, born February 12, 1932, peacefully passed on to be with the Lord on February 3, 2016. Amelia, fondly known as 'Maude', was a hard-working, caring individual who always put others first. She was a long-time employee of Bob and Jake's and The Place restaurants, where she used her unique culinary skills to wow customers for decades. She gained legendary status through her recognition for 'Maude's Gumbo' and was featured in The Advocate Newspaper. Amelia was loving and devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons Arthur (Linda) Griffin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Clarence "Ronnie" Griffin, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Lee (Lalyn) Griffin, Tucson, Arizona; and a daughter Loretta Wallace, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is also survived by a brother Roosevelt Griffin, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; a first cousin, like a sister, Mable Rodgers, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Amelia was preceded in death by her grandmother and namesake, Amelia Griffin; her mother Margaret Poole; a sister Jewel Shaffers; and a son-in-law, Leo S. Wallace.
