

"Anna Mae Rathcke Thrower passed away on July 8, 2020 at her home at Azalea Estates Assisted Living Community in Gonzales, LA. She was 88 years young. Anna Mae was born on May 29, 1932 and was one of 4 children to Henry Bogh and Amy Hernandez Rathcke. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1951 where she was a member of Gamma Theta Sorority, Booster Club, Student Council, Future Homemakers, 4-H Club, Glee Club and was featured as a Miss Baton Rouge High Beauty for 3 years in a row. She married Thomas W. Thrower in 1955. She was an avid fisherman in her early years and she absolutely loved cooking big meals for her family and friends to enjoy! Anna Mae was a stay at home mom for many years and then worked as an office manager for Medical Associates as her children got older. In her later years, she worked as a receptionist for Rabenhorst Funeral Home East. She is survived by her 5 children- Melanie and husband Scott Rabenhorst, Tim Thrower and wife Mary, Annette and husband Jim Worley, Mary Beth and husband Brent Cantrell, and Michelle and husband Tom Carona; 10 grandchildren- Blaire and husband Michael Walsh, Kyle and wife Meghan Rabenhorst, Timothy Thrower Jr., Matthew and wife Brittany Thrower, Maggie Thrower, Alex Worley, Case Cantrell, Anna Carona, Jack Carona, and Emma Carona; and 4 Great Grandchildren "“ Kobe, Lillian, and Marjorie Thrower and Kayden "Boog" Rabenhorst. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Warren Thrower; parents, Henry Bogh Rathcke and Amy Hernandez Rathcke; brother, James Adam Rathcke; brother, Henry Bogh Rathcke Jr. Survived by her sister Juanita Sutherland and her husband Fred along with many nieces/nephews and friends. Our "Gammaw" was the sweetest, most genuine, hard-working, positive, full of faith woman, wife, mom, grandma and friend that anyone could ask for. She was a giver and servant at heart! She was loved dearly by all who met her and will be greatly missed! She stated at the end that she wanted everyone "to be happy and love one another ---be at peace". Special thanks to all of the staff at Azalea Estates in Gonzales for taking such good care of her (especially Susie, Missy, Gwen and Lisa along with Paulette and Teri with Med Pass). Also to Dr. Lara Falcon for always giving exceptional care and time to her needs. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, July 14th from 9 am until 10:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd. celebrated by Father Jeff Bayhi. Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
