

Annette Smith Anderson, 96, passed away at home surrounded by her children and loved ones on September 17, 2014. She was born in Gillsburg, MS on July 23, 1918 to Annette Van Norman Smith and Wiley Smith. She was the wife of Darrys J. Anderson for 58 years who preceded her in death and thanked her for marrying him every night. A proud, strong beautiful woman with many friends, she leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sharon Annette Anderson Valverde, her husband Kenny, her son Darrys Rhett Anderson, his wife Vicki, grandchildren Wesley Valverde, his wife Lisa, Kody Valverde, his wife Michelle, Jordan Anderson, Trent Anderson, and great-grandchildren Owen, Lila and Piper Annette Valverde. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Tom Smith, Wiley B. Smith, and her sisters Blue Belle Busby and Dolly Smith. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews Wayne Busby and Matt Huff. She was a faithful member of Florida Blvd Baptist Church for 57 years. She cherished spending time with her many Sunday School friends. Darlene Rayborn, Jessie Easley and Nancy Savant were her special caregivers for whom we are most thankful. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Friday, September 19, from 9 am until religious services at 11 am. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Friday at the Lea Family Cemetery, Gillsburg, MS.
