
A retired corporal with 22 years of service with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, he died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. A native of Baton Rouge, he was born Nov. 11, 1926. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting resumes at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Vic Messina, celebrant. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lena Mae Guercio Lombardo; sister, Angelina Lombardo Oufnac; brother and friend Carl "C.J." Lombardo and Louise Vicaro; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Burton, Patricia Moreau and her husband Lee; brother-in-law, Joseph Guercio and wife Daisy; brother-in-law, Arthur P. Couvillon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Moran Lombardo; sister, Catherine Lombardo Couvillon; father and mother-in-law, Joseph Sr. and Malena Callegan Guercio; sister-in-law, Margaret Martinez Lombardo; brothers-in-law, Herman A. Oufnac, Sammy Guercio, Russell Guercio and Joseph "Buddy" Burton; nephew, Craig Joseph Guercio. Pallbearers will be his brother and his nephews. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Our Lady of Mercy Knights of Columbus Council 969 and Catholic High Men's Club.
