
Aubrey L. "Buck" Barber, Jr. died peacefully at home May 6, 2014 at the age of 77. He was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on September 20, 1936 and was a resident of Baton Rouge. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marianna, his children A. Lee Barber III and his wife Caroline, Nancy Elizabeth Barber, his grandchildren Rayne Elizabeth Barber, A.L. "Buck" Barber IV and Anna Camille Falgout, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his brothers Paul T. Barber Sr. and Lionel Hilliard Barber and their families including numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Aubrey Lee "Buck" Barber Sr. and Anna Laurie Guillory Barber. He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and LSU where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He enjoyed his lifelong career at Barber Brothers Contracting Co., LLC where he served as President and CEO. He was a past director of Fidelity National Bank, a member of AGC, Louisiana Cattlemen's Association, Baton Rouge Country Club, City Club and CCA. He was an avid fisherman and cattleman who loved spending time outdoors with friends and family, including his dogs, Molly and Poochie. Pallbearers will be Buck Barber IV, Doug Barber, Chris Barber, Andy Barber, Louis Wittie and Josh Salter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Alan Farries, Everett Barrow, John Snyder, Franklin Kyle, Dr. Terry Rehn, Dr. Gerald Barber, and John Jones. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man who found great joy in the simple things of life. He will be deeply missed by so many who knew and loved him. A special thanks to Hospice of Baton Rouge, Dr. Gerald Barber, and caregivers Kimmie Cyrus and Arica Johnson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, JDRF.
