Barbara attended Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans and was head nurse at Charity Hospital. Barbara was a devout Catholic and long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church who spent many hours volunteering at Ollie Steele Burden Manor Nursing Facility. She was a member of The Carmelites and The Order of the Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara is survived by her husband, Patrick Henry, of the last 14 years; her four children, David Kahn (Norma), Peggy Vicari, Mary Kay Kahn-Chittum (David), and Carl Kahn; and her eleven grandchildren, Neil (Jennifer), Kyle (Peter), Joey (Breanna), Aaron (Amber), Kristin (Nicolas), Michael (Courtney), Katie, Stephen (Trisha), Matthew, Austin, and Nikolaus and six great-grandchildren Jaydn, Zachary, Zoe, Sasha, Myka, and Courtlynn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Leora Tripp, and her husband of 27 years and father to her children, Dr. David D. Kahn.
The family would like to thank Old Jefferson Community Care Center and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their care.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12th from 5PM to 9PM at Rabenhorst Funeral Home 825 Government St. Services will continue at St. Agnes Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 13th with visitation at 10AM until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM, interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
