"Barbara Hollingsworth Sonnier, born May 13, 1939, raised near LeCompte, La, and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away September 15, 2017. She was a graduate of Bayou Chicot High school, where she was the salutatorian, and she went on to graduate from Spencer's Business College in Baton Rouge. She spent many years working for the EBRP Clerk of Courts office, and retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sherriff's office. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where she loved to attend daily mass, and the Adoration chapel. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Hollingsworth; and her husband, Mr. Paul F. G. Sonnier. She is survived by: Her son, Paul Ashley Sonnier; a granddaughter, Skyler Sonnier; a grandson, Christian Sonnier; two sisters, Sallie Gaudin, and Jennie H. Murphy (John Barrett Murphy); a brother, T.J. Hollingsworth; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Mercy on Wednesday, September 20 at 9 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown.
