
A loving father and native of Pointe Coupee Parish, he died at 6:55 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at his residence in Glynn. He was 82 years old, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired electrician from Exxon Refinery. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Sunday, July 27, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 28, from 10 a.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Christopher Decker. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marie Genevieve Picard Ward; and parents, William Henderson Ward and Nelia Marie Solar. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie and husband Kerney Cannon and Cindy and husband William D. Rome, all of Lakeland; four sons, Ronald T. Ward and wife Robin, of Glynn, Don B. Ward, of Livonia, Gary Brent Ward, of Glynn and Jeffery S. Ward, of Pride. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Justin, Jordan and Katelyn Ward, all of Livonia, Joshua and Jacob Rome, both of Lakeland, Tyler and Kevin Ward, both of Pride, and Ryan and Jenny Backus and Shawn and Brandon Backus, all of Oshkosh, Wis. Pallbearers will be Joshua Rome, Jacob Rome, Tyler Ward, Justin Ward, Jordan Ward and Robert Curtis.
