

Bethan Rae Evans Clayton passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born May 22,1932, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Bethan was pre-deceased by her husband, Donald Merle Clayton who was a USAF retiree, and her parents, Wiltz Estle Evans and Ora Mae Evans. Bethan is also pre-deceased by her 4 brothers, Alden Lee Evans, Wiltz Evans, Benjamin Evans and Richard Evans.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 3500 Highway 28 East, Pineville, Louisiana.
Bethan graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria and worked as a bookkeeper for Larry Biehler after high school and before she was married. Once married she spent the next 23 years traveling with her husband and family who were transferred to various Air Force bases from Taipei, Taiwan to Michigan, Bossier City, and Scott AFB in Illinois. Once Donald retired, the family moved back to Alexandria where she went to work for Larry Biehler again, and then on to the OB-GYN Clinic in Alexandria.
Bethan loved game shows and football. She watched any type of football, even Canadian, but loved the LSU Tigers the most.
Bethan was extremely active in the First Christian Church of Alexandria-Pineville and spent many decades in the choir.
Bethan is survived by her daughters, Melanie Simpson, of Alexandria and Annette Clayton Crawford of Baton Rouge, LA, as well as grandchildren, Anna Mizell, Paige Gallaspy, Abigail Mizell, Wilford Gallaspy, Jr., and Claire Gallaspy, and great grandchildren: Brandon, Wyatt, Emma, Sophie, Celeste, Alden, Eloise, and Wren. Bethan is also survived by nieces Esther, Lisa, Shirley, and Rosalie, and nephew Richard.
