Betty Joyce Graffia Kleinpeter, age 68, of Prairieville, LA, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. Betty was born on March 23, 1955, to Dora and Joseph Graffia in New Roads, LA. From an early age, Betty exhibited a loving and nurturing nature that would define her life. For many years Betty, working alongside a pediatric doctor, brought comfort and care to countless families. Betty’s innate ability to soothe even the fussiest babies was a testament to her gentle spirit. Her touch could lull any little one into peaceful slumber, leaving parents marveling at her natural gift. Beyond her career in pediatric care, Betty was renowned for her culinary skills, particularly her seafood gumbo. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and joy, where family and friends gathered to indulge in Betty’s dishes, always prepared with love but never from a cookbook. Her passion for a tidy home was evident to all who entered, as she maintained a spotless clean haven that reflected her attention to detail and care. Betty’s legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Frances Elder “Frankie” Kleinpeter; children, Patricia Duvic (Daniel), and Chris Kleinpeter (Amy); stepchildren, Scott Kleinpeter (Karla), Frankie Kleinpeter, Jr. (Amy), and Cory Kleinpeter (Lesley); grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Maw Maw Betty,” are Lauren and Logan Kleinpeter, Arianna and Emma Kleinpeter, Madeline and Camille Cancienne, Jackson Firmin, Brooklyn, Aubrey, and Colby Wiley, Austin, Alice-Catherine, and Anderson Duvic, and Chris and Ruston Kleinpeter. Her memory will also be carried by her sisters, Rita McAllister and Lynne Prestenback, who shared a special bond with her throughout the years; and a host of other loving family members and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Dora Young and Joseph Graffia; and siblings Wayne Graffia, Kenneth Graffia, Beverly Lessard, Vincent Graffia, and Patricia Graffia. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, December 1, 2023, from 8:45am to 10:15am. A Graveside service and burial will immediately follow at St. George Cemetery, 7808 St. George Dr., Baton Rouge, LA, at 11am. As we bid farewell to Betty Kleinpeter, let us remember her for the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the countless lives she touched. May her memory endure through the stories of her kindness, her delicious gumbo, and the peaceful lullabies that echoed through her loving touch. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's name to Wheels to Succeed, a signature program of the McMains Children’s Developmental Center. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Laura Falcon, Dr. Boyd E. Helm, Baton Rouge Palliative Care, and Mrs. Andrea Harris.
