

Betty Joe Maddox LummusWhen the love of your mother touches your heart you know she will never be gone. Betty Joe Maddox Lummus, 85, of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully on November 29, 2014. She was a former resident of Ida, Louisiana, where she was born to Carl and Tressie Maddox. In the past thirteen years, she was taken care of, joyfully, by her loving daughter, LySandra "Sandy" Bailey and her loving son-in-law, Ronald E. Bailey. She knew she was loved by her family and friends. She was a tiny little person, but was strong willed and brave. She had an artistic talent in hairstyling. Earlier in life, she owned a beauty salon in Donaldson, TN. She has many friends, but Pat Friedman, of Lebanon, TN was her best friend forever. She loved dogs, cats and chickens, but most of all she loved her daughter. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law; one grandson, Gregory Bailey; one great-grandson, Brandon Rouse; two sisters, Charlene McGill and Martha Ray Currie; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lummus; her parents; two sisters, Mamie Maddox Hatfield, and Patsy Maddox Thompson; and her grandson, Tate Bailey. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to any charity of donor's choice. The family would like to thank everyone at Pace Baton Rouge for the care and love that was shown to their family. Also, special thanks to Jamie Gaudin, her Nurse Practitioner, who loved her very much and Dr. Susan Nelson. Also a special thanks to the staff of St. Clare Manor for the loving care that was given to help their Mother with her final journey.
