

Troy, Betty Plunkett St. ClairBetty Plunkett St. Clair Troy, a resident of Baton Rouge, died peacefully on November 7, 2015 at the age of 95. Betty, as she was known, was born in Mexico, Missouri on August 6, 1920, to the late Herbert Botts Plunkett and Elinor Connely Plunkett. She attended Hollins College, and graduated from the University of Missouri where she met and married Arthur William St. Clair, MD. When Art finished medical school they moved several times before making Jackson, MS their home. Betty Nell was active and involved in Jackson as the President of the St. Dominic's Hospital Guild, also Broadmeadow Methodist Church, and enjoyed the garden club and bridge clubs in the Jackson area. She will be remembered as an excellent duplicate bridge player. She and Art were also avid sailors. In later years she moved to Florida where she met and married Francis Gene Troy. At age 88 she and Gene took their last trip together to China. She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Gene Troy, her brother Herbert Connely Plunkett, and a sister Shirley Phylis Plunkett. Betty is survived by her three children, Suzanne St. Clair Caver and husband Bill of Mandeville, LA, Elinor Lynne St. Clair Smith and husband Craig of Baton Rouge, LA and Arthur William St. Clair and wife Carol of Houston, TX; grandchildren Christine Caver Plauche and husband Keith of Mandeville, LA, Courtney Caver Finnan and husband Ryan of Baton Rouge, LA, Leigh Ellen Smith Puckett and husband Chris of New Orleans, LA, Patrick Craig Smith of Austin, TX, Erin Smith Piper and husband Robby of New Orleans, LA, and Arthur William, III, and Charles Eugene St. Clair of Houston, TX. Betty had ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Caleigh, and Will Plauche, Matthew and Patrick Finnan, Kate, Christopher, Eloise, and Hudson Puckett, and Connely Piper. Also, sister-in-law Marilyn Smith Plunkett of Jackson, MS, and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Harold Brandt, and Betty's devoted friend and caregiver Cookie Howard. Also, Susie Bodinot, RN of The Hospice of Baton Rouge and caregivers Ann Green, Shanell Riley, and Pam Coleman.
