Billy Joe Alford

A resident of Hammond, LA passed away at 5:08pm on Monday, December 7, 2015 at North Oaks Medical Center at the age of 82. Billy Joe was born January 22, 1933 in McComb, MS. He was a loving husband and father, and he adored his grandchildren.

In 1955, Billy Joe moved to Hammond from Meridian, MS with his wife Peggy to work for Billups Petroleum Company. He later opened Alford Petroleum Equipment Company. The company is still in operation today run by his sons Jeff and Jamie, and grandson Jeffrey Alford.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Plummer Alford; mother, Florence J. Alford; father, Dewey H. Alford; and sister, Vonceil A. Strong.

He is survived by his children: James D. Alford, Jeffrey N. Alford both of Tickfaw and Jennifer A. Green, Prattville, AL.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jeffrey N. Alford Jr., Heather Alford Vicknair, Jordan Alford, Clint Alford, Tyler Green, Arianna Green; and 7 great grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at First Christian Church, 305 E Charles St, Hammond, LA on Sunday December 20, 2015 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First Christian Church Youth Fund, 305 E Charles St, Hammond, LA.
