

She was born July 25, 1922 in Alexandria, La. Her parents were Etta English Mayeaux and Gilmore Mayeaux.
Birdie and her husband, the late Newty Jeansonne, were married for 70 years, living all over the state of Louisiana, before finally settling
in Ville Platte for 36 years, and later in Baton Rouge for 20 years.
While Newty was away, serving in the Pacific, Birdie worked for the war effort, as a part of the Greatest Generation, at Consolidated
Aircraft and Higgins Landing Craft in New Orleans.
After moving to Ville Platte, where Newty was the county agent, Birdie became a successful landscape designer, and Newty took early
retirement to help with her business.
Birdie is survived by three children, Jim, Cynthia, and Brent Jeansonne; two siblings, Dr. Hayden (Pete) Mayeaux and Myra Smith.
Her grandchildren are Jeff Jeansonne, Jo Lato, Staci Cross, Dean Ketchum, and Christine, Ryan and Michelle Jeansonne
Her great-grandchildren are Megan and Jamie Lato, Kellen and Keaton Cross, and Monica and Charlie Ketchum.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA, Friday, January 11, 2013 from 11am until relegious service at 2pm. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
