
Bonnie Hoy died peacefully at home in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, the love of her life for 63 years, Tom P. Hoy Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Lewis Unglesby; and a son and daughter-in-law, Tom III and Gail Hoy, of Houston. Bonnie was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Bienville Parish and had resided in Baton Rouge since 1997. She had a special love for her grandchildren, Emilie and Lewis Jr., of Memphis, Tenn., Kim and Lance Unglesby, of New Orleans, Thomas Hoy IV, of Dallas and Graham Hoy, of Conroe, Texas. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Reona and Cart Varnado, of Baton Rouge, Elaine and Ben McCarty, of Albuquerque, N.M., Marie and Bill Hulsey, of Madison, Miss., and Nancy and Wilbur Shell, of Brookhaven, Miss.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Priscilla and Jim Beach, of Vicksburg, Miss., and Betty Rose and Ralph Beach, of Hazelhurst, Miss. Bonnie was blessed to live long enough to see her great-grandchildren, Virginia, Owens, Blake, Lucy and Eleanor. Everyone who knew her agreed she defined being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to the utmost. So loving and caring, full of life, laughter and style. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Inez Beach; brothers, Revis Bo Beach, Wallace Beach and Edwin Beach; sister, Cloteal Polk; father and mother-in-law, Tom and Mamie Hoy; and her cherished grandchild, Blake. Always a perfect lady, she had a lifelong love of tennis, flowers and sports. Visitation at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Aug. 20, from noon until religious service at 2 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Robert Leslie, and nephews, Jim Beach Jr. and Russ Beach. Honorary pallbearers are her brothers and brothers-in-law. The family wishes to send a special recognition and thanks to her care giver, Emma Moore, and the staff of The Promise Hospital on Mancuso in Baton Rouge.
