

Caesar S. Chenier Jr., known mostly by the nickname “Butch”, was born on October 18, 1946, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is the youngest of four children born to Ceasar Chenier Sr. and Chrystabelle Juge Chenier. He passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Butch attended elementary school at St. Francis Xavier and later graduated from McKinley High School in 1965. After graduation, he began his career at 688 Auto Parts, later going to Saia Freight, and retiring from Shell Oil Company as a Storeman. He spent his post retirement years managing his tire business, Personal Touch, in south Baton Rouge, La.
Butch was an exceptional man, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was full of life and had a smile that would light a room. He enjoyed horseback riding, motorcycles, and cooking. He loved traveling with his PX retirement club and taking small trips in his RV. As a devoted member of the Purple Circle Social Club, he helped many in the south Baton Rouge community and enjoyed his leisure time there as well. He always left home freshly groomed, with his hair “fried, dyed and laid to the side”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ceasar Chenier Sr. and Chrystabelle Juge Chenier, his brother, Joseph Roland Chenier, and his brother-in-law, Russell Lemelle. Butch leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Gladys Lemelle of Opelousas, La, one brother, Charles Chenier (Bertica) of Baton Rouge, La; five children: Cory Honoré (Tammie), Caesar Ray (Laura), Anita Wright, of Baton Rouge, LA, Sidney Martin of Ethel, La and Darrell Patterson (Veester) of Portland, Oregon; and two stepchildren: Frank Carter Jr. and Tabitha Carter, both of Baton Rouge, LA. Also, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, relatives, and friends. Services will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 10am, visitation at 9am.
