
"When tomorrow starts without me, don't think we are far apart for every time you think of me, I am right there in your heart." Albert J. Mechana Jr. a retired Louisiana State Police captain and resident of Baton Rouge, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Sunrise Senior Living. He was born Sept. 18, 1926, in New Orleans. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; a daughter, Tracey, her husband, Mike Rathcke, and his beloved grandson, Chad Rathcke; a brother, Alfred and wife Priscilla Mechana: sister-in-law, Darleen Himmelheber, her husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Ann Mechana; beloved friend, Dr. Tip McKnight, wife Barbara and family: nieces, Janet Villar, Cindy Guidroz, Kathy Richard and Pam Mackey; and nephews, Matthew Mechana, Mark Mechana and Larry White. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, A.J. and Edna Mechana. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Our family is most grateful to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Sunrise Senior Living at Siegen. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Wednesday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, June 9, from 9 a.m. until memorial service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ken Carroll. Honorary pallbearers are Larry White, Jerry Richard, Bill Mackey, Terry Rathcke, Dustin Rathcke, Ryan Martin, Shane Martin, Andrew Wilder and Herman Lemoine.
