Catherine June Heroman Scheffy

Scheffy, Catherine June HeromanJune Scheffy passed away peacefully on June 8, 2016, at the age of 91. She was born on June 28, 1924, to Lee Cyril Heroman and Corinne Marie Middleton and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. After graduating from Baton Rouge High and LSU, she went to work at Esso Standard Oil where she met her husband of 64 years, Robert Williams Scheffy, who predeceased her in 2011. June is survived by her four sons, Robert Williams Scheffy, Jr. (Pat), William Warren Scheffy, Lee Cyril Scheffy (Lucy) all of Baton Rouge, and James Heroman Scheffy of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robyn Scheffy Henry (Brett), Rebecca Scheffy Roberts (Eric), Robert Williams Scheffy, III (Hilary), William Austin Scheffy, Lee Cyril "Cy" Scheffy, Jr. (Lauren), Catherine "Gate" Scheffy Carlin (Daniel), Scott Dalton Scheffy (Anna); and eleven great grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her parents, sisters Annie Lee Heroman Walsh and Corinne Heroman McLavy, brothers Lee Cyril Heroman, Jr. and William Middleton "Mid" Heroman, daughter-in-law Mary Robinson Scheffy, and great granddaughters Mary Frances Carlin and Grace Catherine Carlin. June will forever be remembered for her roles as full-time referee among her four boys, part-time navigator on numerous and occasionally infamous family vacations, Chi Omega Chapter Advisor to the daughters she never had, and unofficial test kitchen and guinea pig lab for many a recipe in the original Junior League River Road Recipes. There will be a visitation beginning at 8:30am on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church to be followed at 10:30am by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Special thanks go out to all the care-givers in Highland Court at St. James Place and Hospice of Baton Rouge.
